Ulrich Intermediate School is named for the family of August and Marie Ulrich who settled in the Klein area in 1900 after coming to the U.S. Their homestead was across Spring-Cypress Road from the intermediate school. Dr. James Jones and his wife, Grace Ulrich Jones, lived on the Ulrich Intermediate property. Their barn has been moved to the Klein ISD historical site at Doerre Intermediate School.
